Streaming and transcribing

Hi!
You could try to find someone to do this manually or you could just use the transcription support section I added ealier to Backgammon Studio for this purpose.
First you need to find this section:
![]()
From the home screen click menu/videos and the video dialog shows up. Second option looks good.
![]()
Here you'll see all transcription requests grouped by year. To add a new video click "New video". A dialog opens up. Fill in the details and click submit. I just copy paste the title from the youtube video so it is nice if the title is descriptive and contains year, tournament, players and match length. Any extra info like what event doesn't hurt either.
This is good: Colorado State 2017 Undefeated Alfred Mamlet v Joe Freedman - 11 pt
This is not so good: 2018 01 20 12 07 13 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cfg9ABy-2NI)
Luckily for the last video the missing information is printed on the video stream. If it wasn't you'd be in a world of trouble trying to figure out who actually played the match. Better just stick with the format of the first one to avoid problems.
To transcribe a match go to the same section and click one of the years:
![]()
Click on "I'll do it" on the video you want to transcribe and once done click "Upload", select the match file and submit.
Possible provements:
One drawback is that Backgammon Studio won't nag you about missing transcriptions (but I could set up some automated emails for this) so if some users forget about the transcription they will stay assigned to this user.
What if a video is untranscribable? There isn't any "Unassign" button but I can add that if needed. Also a button to add a note on why you weren't able to transcribe it. For instance "I couldn't see the dice for most of the match".
You can get an email notification when someone transcribes a match but I guess you could also get an email when someone assigns a match to themselves.
Even without these possible improvements the section is perfectly usable as it is today.
Backgammon Studio The Swiss Army knife of backgammon!
Best regards,
TP
