18/17* 18/16. We need to get of the 18 because of our race lead and this is the chance to do so with a tempo and with White exposed in his inner board. 18/16 is better than 17/15 to avoid return hitting 6s from the bar.

The alternative is making the 5, but while filling in the home board is nice, it does not directly address the key issue how to get the checkers home - other than to wait for doubles. Making the 5 clearly has a less favorable net gammon win rate. I could imagine it is the DMP play and it would be my GS play.
