Backgammon in the Maccabiah Games

Thanks, Stick, for posting the link and your support. As for spelling, I have found that most great backgammon players do bad spelling and grammar, and I strive to emmilate the best.
Giving Backgammon a presence at the Jewish Olympics is not just important to Jews as it highlights the importance of fhe game to an important audience on the world stage. It will also serve as an inspiration to young Jewish children to aim for something loftier than Medical or Law School or a seat on the Mercantile Exchange.
Yes, I am fully aware that my usual cadre of detractors here will accuse me of promoting this cause for the selfish reason of gaining more potential students for my teaching group. The fact is that anything that could potentially grow the game does that, so those of you who harbor those resentments should continue to do everything possible to discourage and fight any new initiatives to expose and expand the game and anyone who champions such a cause. So far, most of the leaders of our game have done a great job of keeping Backgammon under the radar and I applaud your consistency (though we all know what that hobgoblin indicates).
But keep this important fact in mind: it is doubtful we will see Backgammon in the real Olympics any time soon, so our only chance is the Jewish Olympics or the Special Olympics. I believe we should support all our players who qualify for either.
