Backgame cube action

You all have more experience than me. I wonder what do you see as more likely to get from a weak player - to get a pass now or to get a surprise recube if you miss the first shot?

I know that's not enough information, but you generally don't know players that well. Let's just say this guy looks like a typical weak ca. 10PR player, who misplayed some basic early/mid game concepts in the first game including a 63 played both from 24pt and then took a mid-race cube (pips vs rolls about 20% GWC) without much hesitation (so he didn't count any formula). He didn't defend against backgame earlier this game too, hitting too much along the way and not fighting for the ace point when we had already made the 22, there was a blot on the 24 and another guy on the bar, so covering the ace was our threat.
