When it is released it will be a game changer! When will it be released? I'm sure it will be released when it is finished.
I'm guessing it is difficult to get it 100% perfect but would it be ok to release it when it is 99% perfect where a couple of moves during a match video is incorrect? I'm not sure it would work as you'd get followup errors when a move is transcribed wrong and everything becomes a mess.
Then again I wouldn't mind trying it out! And manually edit any incorrect transcription afterwards if needed.
Perhaps the only problem is finding a name for it as it is for Phil's XG Transcriber? hehe.. I guess Phil was a bit optimistic a couple of years ago when that seemed to be the last problem to get sorted out. No harm in that! :-) In Norwegian we have a saying about 'Selling the bear skin before you have shot the bear'... not sure if the same exist in English?
Maybe promoting this transcriber software is killing off the interest in transcribing matches? Why bother if it will soon be done automatically? I think something is lost when you don't manually transcribe it as it is a learning experience to transcribe matches. You can make up your mind what you would have played in a position when you enter it and sometimes you'll be surprised how wrong you were! :-) And sometimes the other way around where you can exclaim: "Ha! I would have played that one better than the match player!" :-)
Until the transcriber is actually released (and possibly afterwards too) I'd still be happy to transcribe a match now and then. I transcribed one earlier today too and you know where to find it! :-)
Best regards,
TP
