There was no criticism intended, of course I know Marty is a very good player and perhaps even a better writer about the game (where is he, BTW? I do not see him post online anymore). I just thought the added perspectives could be useful for understanding the positions.

Perhaps in the second position, a good rule of thumb could be: for a containment position, find the play you'd want to make if you ignore your opponent, and then after having found that, to check whether the tactics of the position allow you to make that play, or whether something else stands out. I think this would be a good thing to consider in this type of positions.

In the third position, I think the point is to see the need to leave limited shots, and then to see your game plan after a hit. Making the ace leaves you very badly positioned for the game plan after getting hit, hitting loose and down not.
