Kisono's program is not perfected. P40 has been working on a program that works well, but has not been perfected and not yet available commercially. And there is at least one other program I have personally tried that works well in that it reads the movement of the dice and the checkers and puts it into a mat file, but I have not yet seen it automatically go in to XG and transcribe in real time, but I am told that is in the works.
Bottom line is today we still need to rely on transcription by human input on the keyboard, but I am convinced we will have a good, automatic program in the next year or so from one of several sources.
In the meantime, what we have now is a very helter-skelter disorganization of match recordings and transcriptions. But just about everything else we have is helter-skelter because we have no true, single, international organization for the game. Why not? I have been asking that question for 10 years and still never had a good answer from anyone!
Once we have the infrastructure, a single organization to rule and coordinate the game internationally, then it is possible to form committees and channel resources to have coordination of transcription, ratings, schedules, rules, oversight to protect players and to protect and support organizers, coordinated advertising and marketing and sponsorship, coordination of local play with international play, youth programs, PR, and more.
Isn't it ABOUT TIME??? Don't we just need one more step to combine the European Backgammon Federation with the US Federation to make an International Federation? What's holding this up? Why isn't it happening? Why are more of you screaming about this too?
