My question is where did you get this heuristic from? Also you said the 0.2 deduction is typical for the recube vig, do you use any other constants for non typical cases and if yes how do you decide?

It's not taken from anywhere. It's just straight forward summing up the percentages (after all equity is just that). I count wins as 1 point and gammons as 2 points (that's why I add them again as they are counted at 1 point stake the first time I count the win%, which include them). The only "smart" thing is to substract 0.2 for the cube vig. I put "smart" in quotes as it's just an immediate observation anybody picks up immediately after trying to count-up several positions this way.

I don't use any other tricks and constans. For lopsided scores there's not an easy way. You'd have to incorporate different gammon values, different cube vigs, etc. I tried to research this quickly, but it was not straight-forward easy, so I just abandoned this. But it doesn't stop me from using this method all over the place.

Let's say you lead 3-0/11 or something. If the opp offers you a gammonish cube that's about 0.9 in eq for money, you know you probably have a pass already. If he offers a gammonish mid-game cube that's somewhere between 0.6-0.7 equity (so it's a small aggresive double for money) and you lead like 9-0/13, you consider dropping. If you have a gammonish midgame cube that's about 0.8 in eq for money, it's probably not a double when leading like 4-0 or 5-0/13, etc. These adjustments are +/- easy to make when you have some experience in observation of the equities when you try some cube problems at various scores.
