This is quite untrue when there's 3 checkers back and chances to crash the board and waste pips.

We see almost 11% CPW change due to the 4 prime.

I suspect that White's board is such a mess and not always easy to fix up and there's some timing issues due to that kicker, so this may be a cube.

In practice I wait as no one is passing now.
