This is only very slightly wrong to double according to ++. So it might even be right after a rollout. Hiw much you should “gamble” agsinst a better player depends on how much better he is and the particular position. In this position it is not that hard to play, so i think it is a very good one to gamble agsinst s much better player. If you get lucky and hit or just win simply, you would be very sorry you didnt double. I would double Mochy here because a) it might be a double; b) he is much better than me snd I do know its right to gsmble; c) if it is a small take Mochy might well pass, or even he could mske a mistske snd think its a close take and pass, which is another reason to turn the cibrvand d). i know better players don't like to see cubes like this from worse players snd even if zi lose the gsme or match part of the fun of playing backgammon is msking my opponent feel uneasy, snd if I csn do that to someone like Mochy (or in your case, Brent) st least thst is partisl compensation for my having to pay the same smount of money to play someone so much better and not get a handicap. At least when its over, even if he wins, he will have some fear of me in the future and at least respect my guts since he will never respect my ability.
