There's nothing to prevent you or someone else from shaking the dice in a cup or in hand and then dropping then thru the box.

Players had plenty of excitement at the Cavendish in LA when someone would exclaim at dropping the dice thru the box and noting two 6's on the table.. "I bring double 6!!!"
