Loss of Creativity

If someone if concerned with being dinged on PR during a match that they wish to win.. then by all means there is another opportunity for creativity.
There are still plenty of creative plays out there in backgammon. There are still many styles and while all can debate adendum on how to adjust to people etc..
I ask.. would you rather play a PR of 3.5 and your opponent plays a 5.5... or would you rather play a 5.5 and your opponent plays a 10.5. Obviously this cant always be chosen..
But to take Phil's example of getting into backgames.. or at least using backgames as a viable game plan more often against weaker players.. its the PR difference that matters. Gambit plays are also more appealing than racing in many scenarios.
XG also show a percentage of "passes needed" to make an incorrect cube a correct cube. Also a percentage of "too good" that is justifiable to cube if the opponent takes...
XG is actually telling us.. that the XG play is not always the best play towards a given opponent.
All I mean to say is there is plenty of room for creativity.
