Why? If blue loses a gammon, he'll lose the whole match. But if he lose a single game, he'll be -3,-1 CR, so will have about 30% ME. So, IMHO, gammons do matter.

As far as I see, 6/4(2) is better in both directions: winning more games and losing fewer gammons, so your argument doesn't hold.
