In Response To: P40/australia tournament cancelled? (christian munk-christensen)

I have no idea if the Australian event has been cancelled or not. I do know that P40 and I have withdrawn our involvement. It is up to the local promoters to determine if they wish to hold the event, or a similar event.

At this time I have not heard what the intentions of the local promoters might be. If they do determine to go ahead with this event, or something similar, we wish them nothing but great success.

We withdrew as we were not happy with the way things were progressing and could not continue our support with confidence going forward. It was a very difficult decision to withdraw as we did have a great response from the players and we felt it had the potential to be a truly amazing event.

As for Jamaica, I am hosting a private, invitational tournament in May in Ocho Rios at the ocean-front estate of my partner and a very close friend, and it is not open for public participation. We have very beautiful facilities for a small, highly social event, but at this time cannot accommodate a larger event and do it justice. It is our hope that this will become an annual event and we will open it to the public once we are assured we have the proper facilities and staff to run a larger event with class.

My personal friends have received an invitation and the basic details. (If you did not receive an invitation, please do not take it as a slight as we were limited in the number of people we could invite, and of course, it is quite possible I overlooked someone I should have invited.)

If this is something you might want to attend and you have not received an invitation, please email me at pjsimborg@gamil.com and I will send you more details (May 14-21) and possibly put you on a stand-by list in case we have room for more.

The main tournament will be 3 days with a $1000 entry fee and two $500 side pools, and there will be calcuttas, chouettes, professional poker games (cash and tournament), PaskoGammon, as well as the usual activities including tennis, ping pong, the beach and water sports, sightseeing, fine dining, and we will all be staying in gorgeous villas on the ocean. A most reasonable hospitality fee will cover all food and drink for an entire week, and guests are encouraged to bring friends and family and stay longer.

It was not my intent to make any of this public at this time, but since you have done that with your post, I felt you are all entitled to an honest and full response on both Australia and Jamaica.

And my friends have also received a save the date notice about a possible tournament December 14-19 in the Bahamas. I am happy to say that is still quite a possibility and we are in final negotiations to secure money-added to make the event more exciting for the participants.....stay tuned for that one.

Oh, we are working on a couple of other very exciting and very new kinds of events that we believe will not only be of great interest to existing tournament players, but will also attract many newcomers to our fantastic game. Stay tuned!!!!!!!

When you have so many balls in the air, occasionally one or two drops, but that's life...we just continue to do our best and hope you will understand and be patient and supportive.
