So, IMHO, gammons do matter.
Yes of course they do. And in a money game with the cube on 2, trading a single loss for a win gains 4 points, and trading a single loss for a gammon loss loses 2 points. And similarly at 0-0/3 with the cube on 2, trading a single loss for a win gains 50% match equity, and trading a single loss for a gammon loss loses 25% match equity (-3,-1 Cr being about 25%, not 30%). But you don't have to worry about gammon losses on redoubles to 4.
As far as I see, 6/4(2) is better in both directions:
That's what the rollout said, but I was addressing the play decision and what I thought accounted for choosing the 23 point anchor over the 24 point anchor, and that was: thinking that the 24 point game might win more games but was likely to lose more gammons -- as acepoint games often do.
