I think you win 15%+ gammons after the closeout play. I can't see winning much more after the waiting play. Too many things to go in line. If he hits and hides the inner blot, you are not in a great position to pick 2. If he hits with [16] escaping and you fail to hit back immediately you're in a bad shape. And so on. I would be surprised if you could won more than 20% gammons after the waiting play. And I think you loose at least 5% more games.

I close the board with 5/4* 4/3 2/1 and try to win a gammon this way.
