Checker play problem

Chase makes some valid observations, including (1) Blue owns the bar point, so any Blue checkers hit might recirculate, and not be trapped, and White can't prime the existing two back checkers (2) "White's position is fragile, so Blue doesn't necessarily want White to be able to play behind the anchor." However, after 24/23(2) 6/4 Gnubg doesn't play behind with an immediate 5-1 or 5-2. Gnubg plays 5-1 9/4 6/5 and 5-2 13/6.
I'm not convinced that the margin in favor of 6/4(2) is as big as the rollout has it. For instance, after 6/4(2) Gnubg plays 5-3 13/8 13/10. I don't think that's best.
The table below shows some of Gnubg's plays for White in response to Blue's 1-1 play. Not shown are the sequences in which Gnubg plays the same move after any of the three plays.
White's roll after 6/4(2) after 8/7 6/4 5/4 after 24/23/(2) 6/4 11 6/5 4/2 3/2 6/5 4/2 3/2 9/8(2) 6/4 21 4/2 3/2 4/2 3/2 6/5 3/1 31 9/5 9/5 13/9 41 6/2 3/2 6/2 3/2 13/9 6/5 51 9/8 9/4 9/8 9/4 9/4 6/5 61 9/2 9/2 9/3 6/5 32 9/4 9/4 4/1 3/1 42 13/11 13/9 13/11 13/9 13/11 13/9 52 9/2 13/6 13/6 43 13/10 13/9 13/10 13/9 13/10 13/9 53 13/10 13/8 13/5 13/5 63 9/6 9/3 13/4 13/4
