"The pure play only leaves two more shots so I can see why it's better."

I see even more why it's better, as it leaves the same number of shots (and one less blot).

Making the 3 leaves 22 shots: Any 3 or 4 plus 21.

Blitz play leaves 20: Any 5 plus 62,44,43,41,32.
