White's board is too strong to make aggressive blotty plays like 13/12 or hitting while making the four point. And I'm going to lift the blot on the nine for the same reason.

So, 9/7* 8/7 and then what for the last ace?

8/7 spreads 'em around better, but 18/17 leaves one fewer shot.

Cube action may play a role here since blue is much better with unstacking the eight if white misses. I'm not seeing many gammon wins for blue, so I don't think the more aggressive play will push it into TG territory. But I do see a fair number of gammon losses for blue.

Safe v bold criteria are mixed - white has the stronger board, but blue is behind in the race. That said, the strong white board seems a bigger factor than the race since white will be on the bar behind a four prime.

So I'll wimp out and make the safe play. Maybe one shake is not enough, but I'll opt for safe(er) here.

18/17 9/7* 8/7
