That, to me, sums up why *older ppl* don't excel at chess. Picking up something new at that age and putting that much effort in is near impossible for most ppl. They have a family, a job, responsibilities ... when you're a kid you have nothing but time. These are the real reasons why after X age you can't become a chess GM, not because it's not possible.
