I would go for the second checker. There's almost zero danger if hit since you have a full prime, and your gammon chances increase significantly if you can close out two checkers vs. closing out one. At money play, you should try for a gammon in situations like this if in doing so, your gammon percentage increases by twice as much as your loss percentage. I suspect that with a gammon getting you to the Crawford game, that you don't quite have to have double the number of gammons; some smaller amount should do. However, I think it's a pretty easy call here even for money - go for the gammon, something like 15/9 8/6 is best.
