I think everyone should take a story like this and see how twisted it is to fit the writer's narrative and remember that for every last news story you read. I'm not trying to argue Rod's innocence, the courts say he's guilty I'm good with that, only that reading the news articles over the years they have tried to paint him in what people see as the worst light possible. (some of the pictures made me literally lol) For example ...

"Backgammon pro Rod Covlin" - mentioned in some respect in about every article you will read. This is obviously supposed to portray him as some sort of degenerate gambler. Everyone in the backgammon world knows that Rod was far removed from being a professional backgammon player and that if he was it would be nothing to be ashamed of but the opposite, something to be proud of. They sculpt backgammon in the same way one would talk about a drug addict.

"He killed his wife to get hold of her $5.4 million fortune" - First, and I could be totally mistaken, but from what I understand if he killed her he would only get what she left him in her will right? Never did I see how much that would be but if I was the gambling type person I would say far removed from the whole enchilada. I'm willing to accept that may have been a big part of the reason he was doing it but the sole reason? We can never know and I think it would be childish to assume that was the only reason. Speaking of children, maybe he wanted custody? From the way it was presented it sounded like he truly hated her and anger/revenge may have been a big part of it too.

"Covlin, a martial arts expert" - This is only speculation on my part but I'm guessing his expertise in martial arts is about as legit as him being a professional backgammon player.

"Covlin, reputed to be a computer expert" - Damn Rod has talent. You'd think he'd put one of these talents to use in a legal fashion if he needed money. Again, on the "expert" scale of all things Rod I'm guessing this one is the furthest from the truth. Being able to install a keylogger or buy equipment to jam signals means...you can install a (simple program) keylogger and use a basic device to jam signals. It is far removed from making you anything near a computer expert.

I want to rant more but I also want to play tennis. Tennis wins.
