After I played 8/6 8/4 and GNU said “mistake” my first thought was “the score”. After more consultations with GNU I find that the key word is “the cube”. Both at this score and at the moneygame GNU prefers 8/6 8/4 with the centered cube and 6/2 4/2* when White has the cube. (With the centered cube after 8/6 8/4 Blue will double next turn, after 6/2 4/2*-White fans, Blue is too good, after 6/2 4/2*-White hits-Blue fans, White is too good at this score but may redouble at the moneygame.) But GNU likes 8/6 8/4 at the DMP also! I agree that without gammons 10 blot numbers next turn (6-4, 6-2, 6-1, 5-4, 4-3) is better that 11 return hits right now. But how to compare gammon chances in this position?
