I think the fact that he played a 2.93 last time out at BMAB tends to support the 2.8 (estimated?)figure, as it's very much in the ball park! Perhaps this figure takes into account more recent performances? And Karol makes a very good point.

The TC in the series are non standard (1-30), and certainly seem (to me) more generous than the usual 2-12. What offsets this, at least somewhat, is that they are not allowed to try out tentative moves. Playing under more pressure doesn't tend to help most players either, so it all makes for a very interesting challenge.
