Thanks Nack!
This reminded me of the following position that came up in a small tournament last week in Angera at the Lago Maggiore in Lombardy, Italy. The setting was a social tournament (BG with BBQ at the tennis club, knockout with consolation, best of 3 DMP). Mixed bag of players, some experienced, most less experienced. The more experienced players would now and then help the less experienced. My opponent in this game was a nice lady, not very experienced but given the lack of experience quite good. This game is the decider.
I got six-primed in this game, but a few technical errors made it possible for me to hit a checker during the bearoff. I managed to open up a second checker and hit it, but could not prevent White anchoring on the ace (perhaps I did not attack aggressively enough). Now the question is, do I try to trap or not, and if yes, how do I go about it? With how many checker off should I start trapping? How about White homeboard blots? How about other anchors?
I figured I should not trap against an ace anchor and played 15/13 14/11 OTB (better I figured than 15/10 or 14/9 after a 44 respectively 55), then rolled a double 4, and eventually lost a straight race. Games like this reminds me how little I know for sure.
Match to 1 point
Nice Lady 63
