I felt that the time settings may have something to do with it. 30 seconds per move - either you don't use it and then the time bank is not very generous, or you use it and never get into any kind of natural "flow".

I also felt that the matches had more difficult decisions than usual and that maybe, somehow, the occasion got to the players.
