13/8 13/7*. Play with one blot. Even if we are hit, we are in the game because of the race and the open 5. If we leave two or more blots, a hit is deadly because a second hit will give White all the time to escape the back checkers and close the 5.

Study companion position: instead of the open five, give White an open ace. Does this change the play? Why or why not?
