Coming home

I looked at all the other answers before posting because I couldn't imagine any play other than two down. Even with Casper's suggested variant I still can't see anything other than two down. All other plays leave multiple blots, don't facilitate coming home as easily when successful, and I'm too lazy to count shots here but doesn't seem like there should be a big difference in shots if some play is immediately safer than another.
