At DMP, 3/5/7 is going to be better, sometimes significantly so, when White has two checkers on the bar, you're massively ahead in the race, and getting hit is fatal (or at least very bad).

If you modify the given position by increasing Blue's gammon chances (or changing the score so that Blue's gammon value is elevated) then the gap between 3/5/7 and 4/5/6 will widen.

I recommend you put the position into the bot and try your own variants.

I call this a reference position not because one play is clearly better than the other, but because it's (1) easy to remember and (2) it demarcates the boundary between the positions where 3/5/7 is better and the positions where 4/5/6 is better.
