PFH - bearoff

st pos -- 1 checker off gains a roll, a second checker off doesn't help, leaving a blot doesn't help. 6/4 1/off.
nd pos -- the best safe play 6/4 6/3 I reckon leaves White a favorite, so 3/off leaving 10 checkers should be an improvement, and with 3/off only 2/off makes sense.
rd pos -- 4/off 4/2 is tempting but it leaves (a) a slow bearoff with the 5 checkers above the gap and (b) little chance of maintaining a 5 point board. If you figure any entering number by White is a winner, then 6/off, blotting, immediately looks better than 4/off 4/2, considering (a) and (b).
th pos -- if you don't take 2 off now, many rolls next roll (6x, 5x) take only 1 off and open a point. The chance of (a) taking a 3rd checker off next roll -- staying a roll ahead of 6/2 5/off -- and (b) keeping a closed board for one more turn should compensate for the extra blotting numbers 5/off 4/off leaves.
