The architecture used is probaly ok and AplhaZero would probably not being an improvement.

Why? BG is essential a 1-D game, where chess and Go are 2D games. Breakthrough in picture recognition helps tremendously, but will be just a waste of resources in BG.

That is not saying that one can't improve, but it wont be simply taking the newest AI framework and using it like fairy dust.
