2-ply means look at all you moves and all dice comb following and all posiible moves of the opponent. Only if you look 1 move further, you see that next to 66 55 saves the gammon too.

In this case BGBlitz too sees the right move only with 3-ply and higher, althoug this is surely no general rule, all 3 bots might differ although in a highly tactical poistion like this the probability is higher (never analyzed, just gut feeling)
