DQ: Sit back and wait for contact?

After we make the 9 we are nearing a too many points position where the outside points will be frozen and play one checker at a time - the other forced. I may be a D, but I am wooden head - 5,4 in order. I hurry to make points because he will run with any six after he consolidates.
