10/7 of course is tempting, but then there isn't a good 5.

If your back checkers are on the 24pt and your opponent has an advanced anchor, then usually that's an indication that you should split. Here, the opponent's anchor isn't exactly "advanced," but nevertheless, getting those back checkers moving is an important strategic objective, especially since you're ahead in the race. Leaving blots everywhere is not something to be worried about since you have a massive board advantage. You welcome a blot-hitting contest.
