A remark on Monte Carlo 2022 – Match lengths in double elimination tournaments.

Given that this happens in the MC tournament there is another factor The loser of the original 17 point match had to go further in the one loss group and it may be a better show of strength winning say four 11 point matches there than 2 more 17 point matches in the main.

Given that you choose two random people A and B from the open MC field and have them play a 17 pointer and an 11 pointer and then another 17 pointer. If the first two matches are split I think it does not predict much of an advantage in the rematach for the original 17 point match winner. Based on not much, I will take a guess of 52% favorite in the 17 point match rematch.

A simulation with a range of expected skill levels could give a reasonable answer.
