The idea is to squeeze the position as its most, because of the stripped 6 and 8 White points, in addition to the Achilles heel (the blot on the ace point). If White breaks one of these points, there is a lot of gammons sprouting.

So it is more efficient to play 9/3, 8/2* (2) in order to force White to play with the second dice if he enters on the ace point. Furthermore note that in the throws including a 5, only 5/4 is safe (piling up on the 5 point)
