Not surprisingly the plays are close. I think if we were asked these questions:

1. Which play wins the most games
2. Which play wins the most gammons
3. Which play loses the most gammons

Nearly everyone would agree that not anchoring up loses the most gammons between the two plays, staying split wins the most gammons, and nobody really knows the dmp play. If we then went one step further asking if we think staying split wins more gammons than anchoring up saves gammons we could have perhaps got somewhere?
