[In the original position, White has a three-point board, and Blue's 8/5*/4 rolls out slightly better than the double-hit.]

Stick: ...if we give the opponent a four point board here it is a massive blunder now to hit two.

Right. And if we give the opponent a two-point board, it is a whopper not to hit two. See evaluation below.
