Getting a second checker sent back is a disaster, but nevertheless, a tempo hit could be worth it since the safe play of bar/23 8/7 doesn't give MCG any bad rolls, and I think that bar/24 6/4* takes away some of MCG's recube vig. On the other hand, one problem with bar/24 6/4* is that even if MCG doesn't immediately hit back, the cleanup isn't easy. Tough call but I would probably play safe OTB.
