Jake was the only commentator to speak up expressing that it was certainly a double and the question was whether it was a take or not though from his tone/word choice you could tell he was taking. OtB Carl didn't cube, rolled something as mundane as [32] and after MCG only entered one with a [63] Carl had lost his market by quite a bit.
I can only guess but I figured he didn't pull the trigger due to the score. The position appears regular enough to me that most decent players would know it's a no brainer cube for money. As we can see below it is a monster cube for money and the take is there but tight. AtS it's the double that is in question but to me this kind of cube is essential to send even at the score against every opponent. The cynicism of backgammon players can be trusted. Plenty of drops would come from such a position.
