Best way to contain White's checker?

I would play to the 8 and 10 just because this is the first play I saw, and I don't have a good argument against it. This play clearly wins more gammons because it aims to hit and then close out White's blot as soon as possible, or just make 7pt. This play possibly loses more gammons but the difference in gammons must be small because there are few gammons to begin with. I feel like coming out might be the DMP play but I am not certain.
