First knee-jerk is to hit loose on the 5. But wait ... making the 9 seems to be the better move, duplicating the hitting 4s for the opponent, who can use 4s also to grab the golden anchor.

I think, Michi came up with the rule of making an outside point in the opening is better than hitting loose inside.

I am sure there are exceptions to the above rule, however I'd stick to it in this position.
