Btw that name Trice metric comes from a combination of the last names of Walter Trice and Niles Merrigan. I don't think Trice had anything to do with it. Merrigan came up with the various penalties for gaps and extra checkers, etc and then renamed his formula Trice metric. Something like that anyway.
