If we are using EPC, and we are p v p, then the player on roll must double when the opponent is within 3 of their PLT (Point of Last Take) and redouble when they are within 2 of PLT. If the player on roll has an EPC of 50 or higher, it's an optional double when the opponent is 4 away from PLT. In r v p or p v r, I'm a little more aggressive than Trice. I would still double within 3 away of PLT and redouble when 2.25 away. (But these are optional doubles; with 2 away, it's a mandatory double and a small redouble.)
