That changes the distribution. Of rolls with a one, 1/6 would be doubles instead of the 1/11 it should be.

You are greatly overstating the problem. Roll no ace, hit clock, opponent hits clock and repeat. About 6 seconds. It takes about 3 rolls on average to enter a checker. TD getting involved and explaining things would take longer on average.
