Checker Play with Three Closed Out

If we play the normal 7/2 7/1 we leave a shot next turn with [66 55 65 64 63] (8 numbers) and create some gaps of various degrees of ugly with [44 54 53 43].
If we play what we certainly know to be correct (because you posted it) 7/1 6/1 we leave a shot next turn with [66 55 65 64 63 62] (10 numbers) and create some gaps of various degrees of ugly with...nada. So even though the weird play immediately leaves two more direct shots it has a lot going for it in the sense of no gaps on the next go around and we'll be able to pre clear the 6pt a lot.
It's worth mentioning we're at a score where we don't care about backgammons at all and want to lock up the gammon which we do when we are able to play safe, the opponent has 3 on the bar and four other checkers in the outfield needing six crossovers to even get to their inner board. So maybe it's closer for money? I'm sure OtB I wouldn't have spent the time to figure this out that's why it's good to study at home. Now if it ever comes up I already know the answer and can save that valuable clock time for shaking my dice some more.
