In Response To: Ruling: Order of operations, hitting the clock, placing a checker on the bar (Jason Lee)

It's clear to me that the checker goes on the bar. (Was player planning to do something else with it?)

Threatening to allow opponent to decide whether the checker is hit is just a matter of swinging a big enough hammer to induce compliance. (Which, to be clear, I agree with.)

In the counterfactual where the player takes the "hit" checker in hand, hits the clock, then changes their mind and puts the checker back on the board, I would rule that the checker goes on the bar (with a similar warning about future violations).
