While John made some good points about why we may not want to step out, his play abandoned the midpoint alleviating that immediate pressure against the opponent's midpoint. We definitely need to keep that even if only for one turn so the opponent doesn't skate by with some awkward numbers leaving only an indirect shot.
Even here stepping out isn't all that bad. As always it means we get a lot more pressure the rest of the time the opponent tries to bear in assuming he doesn't get lucky and throw good doubles or a very soon [52]
