I would play 8/1 for three reasons :

1 - After this play, Blue's homeboard is instantly stronger than White's, and generate immediately 16 dancing rolls (instead of 9). Moreover, there will be an exchange of hits very soon

2 - It is already difficult to extract both checkers from the White's homeboard, thus avoiding to have a third man sent back if we elect making the bar

3 - But the most important reason is the gap in the White's homeboard (the 3pt or 22pt is not made) increasing by a lot the mobility of the Blue rear checkers (1, 2, 5 and 6). So we must give the priority to escape our checkers than to prime the lone White's checker
