It was clear to me to hit here because the opponent can't come and do any real damage (barring doubles). He comes in and hits in the outfield or his inner board who cares? You come in right behind him hitting back or anchoring. And the 9 fans have to be fairly good for us right? Little downside, lots of upside as I see it.

In your variant I'd have made the 5 of course and still maintain it's correct irl otb $ play.
